Ravioli House in San Mateo offers a laid-back, approachable spot for anyone craving straightforward Italian comfort food with a deli twist. Nestled near the 101 freeway, it fits well for a quick lunch break or casual weekday meal, especially for locals in the area looking for generous portions without the fuss of formal dining.

The vibe at Ravioli House is simple and unpretentious. You order at the counter and then take a seat, which makes it an easy stop for busy workers or neighbors grabbing a bite without much ceremony. The interior is utilitarian rather than trendy, focusing more on the food than on decor, which suits the steady flow of clientele looking for familiar flavors done well.

The menu leans on hearty Italian classics like traditional meat or chicken ravioli smothered in pesto or marinara sauces, often accompanied by cheesy bread that’s big enough to share or save for later. There’s a deli-style angle with sandwiches that have drawn positive attention — notably the pulled pork and mojo sandwiches that stack smoked pork and flavorful toppings on fresh sourdough. The sourdough itself is a notable detail, toasted just right but not overly tangy, providing a solid base without overpowering the fillings.

Visitors who appreciate meat-forward dishes and generous portions will find plenty to like here, as well as those open to vegetarian choices thanks to items like the pesto ravioli. Salads, such as the Chicken Caesar or Cobb, offer a lighter alternative but still maintain that hearty, satisfying feel with elements like BBQ chicken and blue cheese.

The service approach leans toward efficient and friendly; staff will often make recommendations, noting what’s popular or fresh that day. Given the location and style, this spot attracts a mix of people—from local office workers to couples looking for a casual meal after errands or classes nearby. It’s well suited for lunch hours but won’t feel rushed if you linger a bit to enjoy the food and the company.

In a practical sense, Ravioli House shines when you want a no-frills, filling meal that doesn’t stray far from well-loved Italian-American comfort food traditions, paired with sandwiches that offer a bit of smoky, saucy character. If you’re in the neighborhood and want something straightforward with real flavor and ample portions, it’s a reasonable choice that doesn’t try too hard but delivers on its promises.

Ravoli was made fresh and pesto sauce were great. Only thing I would comment on is that the filling didnt have as much flavor as I would have expected. Served with two large pieces of cheesy bread. Plenty of vegetarian options

After a short class, I was feeling hungry and saw this place that had great reviews on Google. Excitedly, my partner and I went to this store where the worker suggested the Mojo sandwich and the chicken ravioli with vodka sauce. After a short wait they brought out our food and it was pretty good. The sandwich had too much pulled pork(surprising problem), because it was the only thing you’d end up tasting. The ravioli, which should have been amazing, wasn't that great. The flavor was fine and it was cooked to an al dente texture, but the inside filling was just so crumbly. The texture was kinda unpleasant in this regard, but at least the flavor was good and the garlic bread was a 10/10. Overall I would have to dock them some points for the ravioli(their literal namesake), but it wasn’t that bad and the vibes were nice.

Ravioli were beyond expectations with a delicious marinara sauce and a side of cheese bread. The sandwich options were pretty good and we tried the pulled pork, pastrami, and another pulled pork option mixed with a club type sandwich. All were on toasted sourdough, which wasn't sour much so don't be afraid to try! Overall the service was great, food was enjoyable, and they definitely have clientele because there were people in and out with ordering and pick up. I will definitely be back to try some different options.

Ravioli House is located in the middle of San Mateo, not far from the 101 freeway. We were looking for a simple lunch that was not too pricey and Ravioli House was perfect. It's one of those fairly simple restaurants with really good food. You order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. The portion size was very generous - my wife wound up having her leftovers for dinner. As good as the ravioli was - I had chicken and my wife had traditional meat - the included cheesy bread was even better and the highlight of my meal! If you need a straighforward lunch in San Mateo, check out Ravioli House!

Came in for the first time and ordered two sandwiches. One, the Pastrami, the other roast beef, both with cheddar and everything on it. The habanero sauce is fire. The ravioli plates. All looked amazing. I gotta go back for some of that action. This might be my new favorite spot.

Excellent sandwiches made with top quality meats and freshly made bread. Very friendly and helpful staff ready to make any custom sandwich desired. Reasonable price for the quality and quick service. Tables available inside and a couple outside as well.

The sandwiches are great, ive tried a few of the cold cuts and they don't disappoint. My girl gets the spicy ravioli with cheesy garlic bread and it is also amazing. Service is always fast and it's surprisingly not crowded the couple times we've gone on Saturdays at noon. They also offer deli pastas and take out cups of their ravioli and marinara sauce to cook at home.

This is more deli than cafe.   Order at the sandwich counter.  There are both tables outside and inside. Think East Coast Deli setup. The ravioli takes about 7 minutes to cook when ordered.  It is then brought to your table. The chicken ravioli with pesto is good.  The ravioli is ok, nothing really special about it. The pesto is really good. Its a good value at $13.50 I ordered the Combo.  Good sandwich and quality.  Need to get it with the works.. the heat from the peppers offset the saltiness of the cold cuts. The only negative is that the prosciutto is a bit too thick in my opinion... I could not bite through it well.
